A Simpler Life

Updated: Nov 4, 2019

One of the reasons I created this site is to inspire others to do the same as we are about to do. We are sick of the city and the bondage of debt filled lifestyle. We want to move to a quieter life, the kind that is not full of honking cars, overly filled highways, and the overfilled aisles when you go to the store. We longed for something different, a lifestyle that is getting back to basics. We longed for a more fulfilling life where we have more control over our future. We are going to build a new life in the country and our adult children are coming with.

My husband rarely takes time for himself or to enjoy life. It reminds me of the movie Pretty Woman. Richard Gere's character never had put his feet in the grass. He had never felt the green grass under his feet with out fancy shoes and the busy city lifestyle. My husband confided in me today, that he does not know how to function in a less stressed lifestyle. He is worried about how he will learn to farm, to let go of the stress of a military defense job lifestyle, and transition to a less structured life. I don't blame him but since I grew up in the country I knew we could make some changes to a less stressful life.

I tasked him with 1 thing. To do something for himself for a change. Everything he does is to support our family and give us a life that he wants us to do well in. He works very hard, creating architectures for programs in a high profile job. What about what he wants? He has done nothing but work his tush to the bone trying to provide for us. What about doing something for himself for a change? What about him doing something that is entirely about himself, focusing only on what he wants for just a moment? He loves to write and he loves gaming so I know there is something he can do for himself for a change.

It is time for our family to get back to the heart of life, to enjoy our family and ourselves without thinking about how the heck we can pay all of the high interest credit cards, the fancy car payments and the four thousand dollar mortgage we were stuck in. We were so busy trying to keep up with the Jones as they say, we could not focus on our family, our relationship and our life. It is high time we start over. And as luck just so happened to have it we had to make a new start.

We decided to make a change.
